async genesis: md3c (multidimensional cosmic cuckoo clock)
my day of harvest!
Hello!
The winds stuck around longer than anticipated. Voyages are never on time when discovering new fronts: one simply surrenders and makes way for what comes!
Since mid-March I had been developing my genesis for the programmable art marketplace, Async Art! I am such a fan since discovering their market place and could not help the anticipation of putting the puzzle skills to the test! I hope to create cool "things!" and make everyone's eyeball-viewing time interesting and maybe fun. :)
From March to April, I ideated and drafted. Initially not sure which model to start with, I decided on a 24hours piece. I wanted to tear things up! And I could sense there was a lot wanting to be said through one piece. This brought me back to before I discovered NFTs...when I was simply developing illustration skills for children's book publication! After spending a year playing with handmade creations and stop-motion, something pulled me back to it; it was nice mixing things up and I can't wait to do more of that! Here are some of my sketches during the ideation stage! and a few of the final renders.

Looking over, I understand now what some say when they prefer the sketches over the final. I don't know; but, oh well! For more bts footage, I created a highlight on IG!
After that, I drafted the actual sized works and began painting! This was around May! I use Holbein acryla-gouache paints. I'm still learning, but I really enjoy them! I created 24 individual small-sized cardboard canvases for each illustration. That was fun!
Playing with the idea of 24 hours, I had the desire to make a multi-dimensional cosmic cuckcoo clock. I love cuckoo clocks. They are absurd and befitting! Twenty-four hours, real and true. With each passing work, I become more inspired and motivated to make things unrefined. There is no real logic only a sense I am being pulled into something to solve, but there must also be a sense of diddle-daddle and wasted time; otherwise I'm not getting away with anything!
Debuting in this work are my new kittens! Their names are Yin and Yang and they are very distracting. Like cats, all they want me to do is laze around, nap, and play. Yin arrived in the day, and her brother, Yang, arrived in the night! (With Signore Papito as the titular character, we have a full-blown cat sitcom on our hands. I can't recommend three cats as the cure to anyone needing more chaos in their lives.) Follow along in the hours as Yin and Yang lead the way to ascension of the heart, letting go, seeking the bliss in balance, and cosmic crypto!!!
Throughout my process I always find myself wanting to rush: Rush to get the ideas down as soon as possible! Rush to flush out the details! Rush to start developing the color palette and painting! Rush to finally compile it together! Rush to get everything done, already! Rush rush rush! For me, I can sense this urgency stems from the programming of being in a culture of hyperconsumerism and how can we feed it more, in order to survive. I thought it would be interesting if I tried to do the opposite, but this was hard re-wiring. I found myself having a difficult time shutting my brain off with this need to make-up for lost time. In longer pieces, it's easy to get fixated, because there's an ebb and flow you become aware of and it's nice if you can find it. This was my first time and I tried my best, but becoming aware of these pitfalls from enjoying the overall process this time around has been a great learning experience. It was a rich experiment I can't wait to do again a little differently next time!
After this I will be returning to plans I had in the pipeline before, and now that I'm more seasoned, I feel more confident in collaborating with friends --talented beings I have met along the way! Stay tuned!
I hope you enjoy! If you would like to share your thoughts about 'md3c' or otherwise, I would love to hear from you! You can reach me at the email down below!
stay golden and free!
